I trained inside a system that gives a clinician seven minutes for an evaluation and fifteen for a refill. The clinicians I learned from were skilled. The schedule made the care impossible.
Every diagnostic question that mattered required time we did not have. So the shorthand took over. A symptom name, a medication, a follow-up in a month. Whether the medication was working got two minutes of attention. Whether the diagnosis had been right in the first place got none.
I founded Feel August around the standard of care I would want for myself. Sixty-minute first visits. The same clinician every visit going forward. Care that scrutinizes the whole regimen instead of adding to it.
The clinicians who joined the practice did so because they had been looking for the same thing. We are three PMHNP-BCs licensed in California, and we work the way we wanted to work all along.
